There is something so scary about moving a business to a new place where you know no one. That’s what I had to do this past September when I moved my photography business from Bakersfield, where I was born and raised, to Morgan Hill where we had no family or friends. It was intimidating, and I honestly had very little faith that I would be able to make it work. I knew that it would take a lot of dedication and effort, but I knew that I wanted to see my photography business flourish.
So I decided to do my research and find some local groups with other creatives in the area. That’s where I met Adriana Chavez of Be Loved Events + Design.
She asked to go get coffee (we both really really like coffee), and we hit it off immediately. We learned about each other’s businesses, our families, and our lives. .A friendship began that day.
One thing that we talked about that day is how much we LOVE when a wedding has “friendors.” Friendors = Vendors that are Friends.
So that’s where our idea was born that soon became something that we worked on tirelessly on for the next couple months. We would collaborate and offer a package deal for weddings where the “friendor” mentality would take place.
As a photographer I have photographed weddings that invested in a wedding planner/designer and those that didn’t. I cannot tell you how vastly different the days end up going. I know that when the couple has a planner, that I don’t have to worry… at all. Myself as well as all the other vendors can breathe and take care of our own tasks when there’s a planner. When there isn’t a planner, oh boy. Family is setting up and cleaning up instead of enjoying themselves, decorations may or may not make the table, so-and-so doesn’t know where the water is and no one can get ahold of who is in charge, and the lack of a timeline (or the lack of someone enforcing the DIY timelin) is probably the hardest part.
That’s why I knew without a doubt that I wanted to work with Adriana.
She’s the planner that every wedding needs. She’s the planner that I want to work with at weddings. So much so that I wanted to collaborate with her to offer couples a unique package where they don’t have to worry about anything else.
There are two things that should never happen with a wedding: 1. The couple has stressed/worried so much about planning and day-of things that they don’t fully enjoy their wedding like they should. 2: They chose a photographer that doesn’t match their style (they only focused on the price tag), and they are left with photos of their wedding that are disappointing and don’t accurately represent their beautiful day.
A couple should be able to fully enjoy their day without worrying about a thing or without missing a moment.
My goal with every wedding is to personally deliver the best quality work I possibly can while capturing every moment for the couple to treasure forever. Your wedding day will be over in a blink of an eye. My job is to capture all of those memories so that you won’t forget them, and so you can show them to your children one day, and then their children.
I am so beyond excited to be working with such a like-minded creative person throughout this collaboration. I know that working with Adriana, I will be able to effectively do my job while not having to worry about how the day will flow. I know that without a doubt as team we will create beautiful things.
I think what also excites me so much about all of this is the friendship that I’ve made. I was so scared to move to a new place and move my business with no connections. But Adriana was such a breath of fresh air with how quickly we connected and became friends. She gave me that hope that I can do this. That I CAN make my business work and even watch it grow more than ever before.
I know wholeheartedly that we moved where we needed to for a reason. And I’m so excited for what’s ahead for not only myself and my business, but for Adriana and our collaboration. Our excitement is real and we are so ready to work together in future weddings, giving our couples the best possible service they could ask for.
So if you’re newly engaged, or know someone recently engaged, let them know about us. Let them know about my story and the “friendorship” that Adriana and I have. We would be honored to speak to anyone interested in having their wedding planning be easy and carefree and to have beautiful images to hold on to forever.
So CHEERS!
Cheers for growing businesses, a new friendship, and an amazing collaboration that I am so excited to be a part of.
