When I take engagement photos, I strive to make each one unique in their own way. For this reason I often ask my couples, “What would be your perfect date?” Whether it’s beer and a game, or coffee and the beach, or a combo of a few things, we then pick a date for us three to go on on our date. Aka, I’m just a professional third wheel who follows a couple around all day photographing their love and real life memories. This is why every couple I photograph is so different, and it’s like photographing an engagement session for the first time. Each one is so different, so unique, so custom to their life and memories. It’s real and raw. 

So for Michelle and JJ, their perfect day is when they drive to Big Sur to spend the day. So we first met up at the Big Sur Taphouse to have some lunch and beers, then we headed to the woods to walk amongst the trees, then we went to a beach tucked away off the main road, then finally ended up at the famously gorgeous Bixby Bridge. We spent the day getting to know each other more, laughing, and creating and capturing memories. It was just another perfect reminder of why I love what I do. I get to know these couples on a personal level, become friends, and capture their love story that’s as unique as they are.
